Technical Mount
Technical mount is a refined version of the standard mount where the top player positions themselves slightly off-center to maintain control over an opponent who is turning or turtling. One leg typically hooks near the opponent’s hip while the other frames to control movement, making it harder for the bottom player to escape.
This position is highly advantageous for attacking, as it opens lines for armbars, kimuras, and collar chokes while reducing the risk of reversals. The technical mount allows the top player to apply pressure safely while maintaining flexibility to transition into side control, S-mount, or back control.
Technical mount emphasizes positional awareness, weight distribution, and anticipation of the opponent’s reactions. It is often taught as an advanced strategy to control defensive or scrambling opponents effectively while maintaining submission options.
