Knee Shield Guard

Knee shield guard is a half guard variation where the bottom player places the shin across the opponent’s torso to create distance and control posture. The knee shield allows for defensive stability, sweep setups, and the prevention of heavy pressure from the top.

The position is widely used in gi and no-gi contexts, offering an effective platform for collar-and-sleeve grips, underhooks, and technical sweeps. It also allows the practitioner to transition into deep half, X-guard, or other attacking positions.

Knee shield emphasizes proper angles, pressure control, and timing, making it a versatile tool for both defensive and offensive BJJ strategy.
