Single-Leg X

Single-Leg X (or 1-leg X) is a leg entanglement position where the bottom player isolates and controls one of the opponent’s legs, creating leverage for sweeps, submissions, or transitions to other leg attacks. It is a key component of modern no-gi leg-lock systems.

This position allows the bottom player to threaten heel hooks, kneebars, and other lower-limb submissions while maintaining defensive safety. Proper hip alignment, grip control, and foot placement are critical to prevent counters.

Single-Leg X emphasizes the modern evolution of leg entanglement strategies in BJJ, demonstrating how control of a single limb can create multiple offensive options while limiting the opponent’s mobility.
