Reverse Half Guard

Reverse half guard is a variation of half guard in which the bottom player faces the opposite direction, creating unconventional leverage for sweeps and attacks. This positioning can confuse the top player and open angles for submissions like kimuras, triangles, or back takes.

It emphasizes flexibility, hip mobility, and timing, allowing the bottom practitioner to manipulate balance while maintaining defensive safety. Reverse half guard is particularly useful against aggressive top pressure and larger opponents.

This position highlights the evolution of half guard strategies in BJJ, where traditional positions are adapted and inverted to maximize offensive opportunities and positional control.
