K-Guard

K-guard is an advanced open guard variation where the practitioner uses a knee frame against the opponent’s torso while threading the other leg for control or leg entanglement entries. This position is highly effective for setting up sweeps, submissions, or transitions to X-guard and leg locks.

K-guard emphasizes leverage, precise hip angles, and timing, allowing the bottom player to control larger opponents and dictate movement. It is particularly popular in no-gi competitions where leg entanglement strategies dominate.

Practitioners employ K-guard to manipulate the opponent’s base, open attacking lanes, and maintain defensive security while remaining in a dynamic, highly offensive position.
