Straight Ankle Lock
The straight ankle lock targets the Achilles tendon and ankle joint, using the attacker’s hips and arms to generate leverage. It can be applied from guard, open guard, or top positions, requiring proper shin and foot placement to prevent escapes.
It is foundational in both gi and no-gi leg-lock systems and often chains with other lower-body submissions like heel hooks or calf crushers to form comprehensive leg-control strategies.
