Arm-In Triangle Choke

The arm-in triangle is a triangle choke variation where the opponent’s arm remains trapped inside the triangle along with their neck. This configuration enhances leverage and can prevent the opponent from posturing up, making it a powerful finishing tool.

Typically applied from guard, the arm-in triangle combines hip pressure and leg positioning to compress the opponent’s neck and shoulder simultaneously. Maintaining tight angles and proper arm placement is critical to avoid escape and maximize choke efficiency.

The arm-in triangle is a versatile submission, often used as a counter to defending postures or as part of combination attacks. Advanced athletes use it fluidly with armbars, omoplatas, or sweeps, demonstrating its central role in high-level guard offense.
