Calf Slicer

The calf slicer is essentially the same technique as the calf crusher, functioning as a compression submission targeting the calf and stressing the knee joint. It relies on similar mechanics—trapping the opponent’s leg and compressing it against a limb or forearm to force a tap.

Like the crusher, it can be applied from guard, half guard, or top control, and emphasizes precise positioning, angle, and control. It is commonly used in leg entanglement systems to control movement and create opportunities for follow-up submissions.

Its application highlights modern BJJ’s focus on lower-body submissions, leveraging biomechanics and compression rather than brute force to secure dominant control.
