Alliance Jiu-Jitsu Formation
Alliance Jiu-Jitsu was founded in 1993 by Romero “Jacaré” Cavalcanti along with Fabio Gurgel, Alexandre Paiva, and Fernando Gurgel. From the start, Alliance built a reputation as a technical, disciplined, and highly competitive team. Its focus on teamwork and structured training produced a generation of elite athletes who went on to dominate the international competition scene.
Alliance holds one of the most impressive records in BJJ history, with multiple IBJJF World Championship team titles. Many of the sport’s greatest competitors—including Marcelo Garcia, Rubens “Cobrinha” Charles, and Michael Langhi—came from Alliance. The team’s influence extends beyond competition, as its leaders helped define the professionalization and globalization of BJJ academies.
