Lapel Guard Drill

Lapel guard drills train the use of the gi’s lapel to establish control, break posture, and set up sweeps or submissions. Athletes rehearse grip entries, wrapping the lapel, and maintaining tension for maximum leverage.

These drills highlight the creative use of gi grips to neutralize opponents and create openings. Regular practice improves grip dexterity and the ability to incorporate lapel-based guards into broader attacking systems.
