Rule Differences Between Major Orgs
Each major grappling organization has distinct rules. IBJJF emphasizes positional scoring and safety restrictions, while ADCC rewards takedowns and allows a wider range of submissions, including heel hooks. UAEJJF and other circuits have their own variations on scoring, fouls, and attire.
Competitors must tailor their game to the event they enter. A strategy effective under IBJJF may not work under submission-only or ADCC rules, making familiarity with the organization’s system critical.
