Eddie Bravo Invitational (EBI)

The Eddie Bravo Invitational (EBI) is a professional grappling promotion created by Eddie Bravo, founder of the 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu system. Established in 2014, EBI popularized submission-only competition with a unique overtime format, where matches tied after regulation enter a positional advantage round with submission attempts from dominant positions.

EBI helped bring no-gi grappling to a wider audience through live streaming and online coverage, highlighting innovative techniques such as the rubber guard, leg locks, and other 10th Planet strategies. Its focus on action and fan-friendly rules has inspired a generation of no-gi practitioners and professional grappling events.

In addition to its tournament structure, EBI has elevated the profile of up-and-coming athletes, providing a competitive platform outside traditional IBJJF or ADCC formats. The organization’s creative ruleset and entertainment-focused approach have influenced the broader evolution of professional grappling.
