Mounted Triangle / Triangle from Mount / Mounted Triangle Variation

The mounted triangle is a powerful variation of the triangle choke executed from the mount, where the attacker traps the opponent’s head and one arm between their legs. This submission restricts airflow or blood flow while combining positional dominance with a threatening attack.

From mount, the attacker can adjust their legs and hips to tighten the choke, forcing the opponent to defend while limiting escape options. Variations may include trapping the opponent’s other arm or transitioning into armbars, providing multiple finish opportunities from a single dominant position.

This technique is prized for its combination of positional control and submission efficiency. Competitors often use mounted triangles in high-level competition to maintain offensive pressure while setting up chains into other attacks, demonstrating the adaptability of traditional guard submissions in modern BJJ.
