Mount Escape — Trap and Hip / Trap and Roll

Trap-based escapes involve controlling one of the opponent’s arms while moving the hips strategically. In the trap and hip escape, the defender pins an arm and slides the hips out to recover guard, limiting the top player’s ability to follow. In the trap and roll, the defender traps an arm and combines it with a bridging motion to flip the opponent over, converting a bottom mount position into top control. This technique requires precise timing and control, as failure to trap the arm can result in leaving the defender vulnerable to submissions like armbars or collar chokes.
