Mount Escape — Shoulder Roll / Shoulder Shrug Escape

The shoulder roll escape uses a rolling motion to redirect the opponent’s weight while creating space to recover guard. By rolling over one shoulder, the bottom player shifts the opponent off-center, making it easier to turn or slide out. The shoulder shrug escape complements this by contracting and shifting the shoulders to compress and rotate under the opponent, simultaneously creating a pathway for the hips to escape. Both techniques emphasize subtle movement and leverage over raw strength, making them effective against heavier opponents.
